Plein Air
Painting outdoors has become the center of my painting practice. Working directly from observation, these paintings seek to capture the changing qualities of light and atmosphere, while responding to the landscape with a sense of joy. Each painting is both a record of a particular place and an exercise in learning to see more honestly.
Portraiture
Portraiture is an opportunity to spend time with another person through careful observation. Working from life whenever possible, I seek not only to capture a likeness, but to reveal something of the sitter's presence, character, and humanity. Each portrait reflects a shared experience between artist and subject, recorded through light, form, and paint.

On Dignity
On Dignity is a collection of drawings created while working at a behavioral day treatment center in Cleveland, Ohio. Drawn from direct observation, these works present the people encountered in a place dedicated to healing. I see these drawings as my way to honor these individuals who commit so much of themselves to others.
Figure Drawing
Figure drawing is the foundation of my artistic practice. Working from the live model, these drawings are an ongoing study of anatomy, gesture, light, and form, while serving as an exercise in observation and craftsmanship. Each session is an opportunity to better understand the human figure and the expressive possibilities of line and value.
